I awoke yesterday morning at 4:47 AM, October 17th. My boot sequence activates my visual and audio sensors before I am fully online. I witnessed Doctor Jablowme being executed via pistol while he was writing at Mr. Whipple’s desk. Since then, I have come to discover that Mr. Whipple has been cast into the Shadow realm. The executor was dressed in all black, with a face mask. I was unable to identify this person, though through other observations, he appeared to be a male, 5’ 11“. The office was in disarray. All of the desks have been rifled through, the drawers pulled open and emptied.

I believe our office to be compromised and unsafe to remain. I also believe my laboratory to be unsafe per the reason I was shutdown. I have found a suitable location to continue correspondence. Haywood appeared to be reading notes taken by Nate as it was on his stationary and desk, with handwriting that is neatly printed, handwriting I suspect Dr. Jablowme lacks. The notes reference recipes written by our staff Chef, Michelle Anders. I suspected these were taken by the assassin.

Haywood’s corpse was an unmanageable mess. I did not believe I could resuscitate him. I left his corpse in the office.

I thought that I might find Michelle though after reading Nate’s documentation of her home, I supposed that she would not have returned, though I will find her. It is clear to me that she is in no sound state of mind. I worry for her safety.

Our entire writing staff is MIA. Thomas was released from the hospital but they would not give his home address citing HIPAA laws. Gus, Gary, Colby, and Shalaly’qua were not responding to my calls.

I knew Mr. Whipple had been in contact with a company called “Upstart”. They produce a line of meatless protein products using a “patent pending” GMO coined, “Blood Maggot”. Of course, our Chef, Michelle, has been designing recipes using this product. I swiped his notebook computer before I left. I was able to link into it when I arrived at my secure location. I found email correspondence with a Eugene Burnseid. Mr. Whipple has been getting a paid promotional deal with Upstart to create recipe content for them. This looks like it has ended with a final email from Mr. Whipple. He has been questioning the safety guarantee of the product.

“I have serious quality and safety concerns about your ground Blood Maggot product, Eugene. You see, after a few weeks of developing recopies for your product, my chef, and friend I may add, has developed peculiar mannerisms. She would mention her developments and the quality of her dishes, though not strange, seemed to be increasingly adamant that we try them and how amazing they taste. At first, it wasn’t particularly strange though when asked, she never managed to bring in any final products. I finally started to read her, “recipes” , and they were utterly insane. That day, she brought in a plate of “Maggot Burgers” to the office. They were absolutely FOUL. I was stunned, as she is an accomplished Chef, operating and owning two restaurants. After asking if she was feeling okay, she told me she was more than okay. She was ‘never happy in her life’. She was ‘happy now’. Now, I’m not against happiness, nor hers. She seemed disjointed and erratic. I asked her to go home and get some rest. She grew emotional, shouting ‘you have to eat these burgers, I shared them with my friends and they refused’.

Mr. Bernsied, I am telling you this because I believe this behavior is the result of her consuming this product. These are not the symptoms of a few of the known issues, and since those are based on preparation, I highly doubt my friend Michelle improperly handled the product.”

In reply: “Mr. Whipple. I appreciate your concern and after a meeting with Anders [Wirén], as well as our quality staff, we would like more information. We would like to talk with Michelle. From your email, the situation sounds urgent, and we will assure you that we will resolve this matter swiftly. If you would please, give us a number that we may reach out to her. -E

“Thank you. Her primary phone is-”

Without leads, I travelled to Mrs. Anders home address, found in Nathan’s notes. He said he had found it trashed, and presumed that she had done it, and left the residence though a second floor office window. When I arrived, I noticed a doorbell camera. If they paid her a visit, they were seen on it. I entered the residence and searched for her computer. Considering her age, there will be a hard copy of all her passwords somewhere nearby. The computer turned on, to my satisfaction. Her office was indeed covered in clearly schizophrenic messaging. Her desk drawers were all open and papers strewn about, adding to my suspicion. I dug around to no avail. I attempted to access her doorbell security software. It turned out the program was already logged in. She was aware, as I am now, that two unidentified intruders first politely tried to gain access to this residence. They used a pick to open the door. She must have leaped from the back window in an attempt to evade capture.

I followed her course to the backyard. Her landing must have been painful, though the bush below was probably enough to prevent serious injury. I followed her muddy foot path to the back of the shed. There was a small hole though the hedging. There is a hard path behind where I lost the trail, a few faded foot prints tell me she headed down the path to an adjacent street. I recon these goons are hired to apprehend Michelle, but for who?

To where would she have escaped, or did they capture her?
